Very keen to invite you along to 'Arbiters or Arbitrary', a panel featuring Jamie Tram, Bryget Chrisfield, and hosted by myself as part of Emerging Writers' Festival—this Thursday evening!

Got any plans for this Thursday evening? If not, why not spend an hour with me and a couple of the coolest arts critics in Narrm for an Emerging Writers Festival panel on the future of criticism?

I'm very keen to get together with Jamie Tram and Bryget Chrisfield to yap about our critical practices from our perspectives of cinema, music, and theatre. We had a gorgeous meet-up a couple weeks back to get to know each other and talk about our practices. I'm keen to yap through our different relationships to institutions (I've never done criticism for any publisher other than myself), editors, artists, and our audiences.

If you're curious about how to get started as a critic, or where the state of play is at now and into the future, I'd love to have you along. Also it's free!!!!

Here are all the details:

Panel: Arbiters or Arbitrary?
Emerging Writers' Festival

Letterboxers at film premiers, stan twitter influencing music charts, TikTok dictating theatre seats— everyone is a critic now. But the critics themselves have differing thoughts. Where does the future, or even the present of criticism stand? Join a panel of music, theatre and film critics to investigate the lay-of-the-critic land.
